The Russellville Innovation Academy will open in August of 2024, with a distinct educational approach. The academy engages students in independent, project-based instruction that integrates core subjects and electives, providing a customized and enriching learning experience. The curriculum emphasizes differentiation and choice, promoting mastery learning principles and fostering engagement.

In the 7th and 8th grade cohort of RIA, we recognize the significance of a hands-on educational experience for adolescents. While intellectual development remains a priority, our curriculum goes beyond traditional approaches by incorporating activities in media arts, humanities, and project-based learning. The inclusion of media arts and humanities allows students to explore and express themselves creatively. Through project-based learning, adolescents are encouraged to collaborate, problem-solve, and apply their knowledge to authentic scenarios, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter beyond the classroom. This immersive and multidisciplinary approach ensures that students in the 7th and 8th grade cohort at Russellville Innovation Academy are well-equipped for success in both their academic pursuits and future endeavors.

The 9th and 10th grade cohort at the Russellville Innovation Academy allows students to pursue career goals through the Logan County Career and Technical Center, Russellville High School, and dual credit courses. Our program focuses on self-paced and personalized learning by leveraging their competencies (Knowledge and Thinking, Oral Communication, Written Communication, Agency, and Collaboration) and provides opportunities to respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, prompt, or challenge. Students acquire competencies by collaborating in small groups to complete projects guided by teachers, overseen by counselors, and driven by real-world challenges and problems they may encounter.

At the core of the educational philosophy is personalized learning, tailoring experiences to meet individual needs, unique interests, and strengths of each individual student. By recognizing diverse learning styles, preferences, and paces, personalized learning creates a responsive and engaging environment, fostering a deeper understanding of concepts and empowering each child to reach their full potential.
